2023 has been another frustrating year for Marlborough Dramatic Club. Brentwood school stopped communicating with us about future bookings and although we held a positive meeting with Paul Morgan in the summer it has once again gone quiet from the school. This is making our hope of performing The Ladykillers at the school less and less likely. There are however, other local venues we can hire.
During the year we held 2 social events which both turned profits for us. A wonderful cream tea in May at the shenfield Parish Hall in recognition of the new Kings coronation and then a quiz night in september at the same venue hosted by the ever green Reg Wheeler. Both events were enjoyed by all who attended.
I wish to thank all of the committee for their on going dedication and hard work during the year. We sadly said goodbye to Karol as secretary and her position has not been filled to date. But we welcomed George as our new Barn officer. On the subject of the Barn the committee and helpers held 2 clean up sessions during the year.
Sadly our autumn production of Ten Times Table had to be postponed but we are hopeful of performing this next autumn 2024, venue permitting.
In March 2024 we will be hosting our anniversary dinner at the hutton mount banqueting hall to celebrate our 120th year of existence. We hope to see many of you then.
