An appreciation of the club’s ex-vice president by Margaret Corry

Maurice first appeared on the Marlborough Dramatic Club stage in the early 1970’s.

As courteous onstage as he was in real life, his air of joviality lit up many a hard evening’s rehearsal.

His beautifully modulated voice and versatility encompassed many notable roles; his interpretation of the famous Robert Morley part in ‘Halfway up a Tree’, a most noble Duke of Norfolk in ‘A Man for all Seasons’ and a wildly extravaganza of delight as Disraeli in ‘The Queen’s Highland Servant’, to name a few.

As Chairman, his measured perspective on decision making at Marlborough committee meetings was always much appreciated.

One of our acting legends of the finest quality, Maurice will be much missed.
